Working with children under the age of 18 is not a job for everyone. You must have lots of patience. Working with adults over the age of 18 is another challenge because there’s various personalities that have developed from years of experience. Now, imagine working with both groups for one job and then adding the parents of these children. Whether working in a school or a clinic, the level of stress from all of this can be overwhelming. For myself and many others working in a similar way, we are going through the motions. Each day, we are just trying to survive these stressors and still help make a difference in the life of these children. But the direction we are going in is not looking too good.
We are living in a time where we are overloaded with technology. The influence of the online world is at an all-time high. The direction we are going is not in the right direction. I am part of a group on social media of people in my city who work with children. Across the board we are all ready to give up on our careers. You have the smallest of children who are becoming addicted to devices. You have teenagers who are currently addicted to devices and have lost respect for authority. Plus, in this country we now have a leader and other adults getting back at anyone whose done any wrong to them. Again, I ask, which direction are we going?
As someone who work with children it’s scary to see these changes within the population in the last few years. Changes that are not making things better, but making it worse. So imagine if these negative changes continue who will we have to take care of us in our old age 40-50 years? What types of leadership will we have in this world? Will we be on a united front or a divide front? In the end, the direction we go in is dependent on us. As the people of today, we are the producers of the people of tomorrow. My hope is that a great enlightenment comes and we make the changes needed to bring out our greatness as a species on this Earth.
