Summer is my favorite time of the year. Many people travel and here in the U.S. the weather is at its warmest throughout the country. I enjoy traveling and have been to many places, but there are many I have yet to see. For about 15 years now I experienced leg swelling with extended constricted sitting during travel. I move around as best I can and I wear compression socks, but they still find a way to swell. This have kept me back from travel to many far places because I fear the risk of blood clots . Also, some places are very expensive.
Our daily life can be very stressful. You may have work, family, friends, and other responsibilities that require your time. Having dreams about what you want to accomplish can help in working through stress. Sometimes just saying them aloud isn’t enough and writing it down brings it new life. I’m at the point where I am creating a vacation vision board. So, here’s the top five on my list in no order of preference…
- Italy: I love Italian food and always wanted to visit and eat their authentic cuisine. Plus there are historical places in Rome that I will like to visit.
- Hawaii: One word, paradise. So many places can be considered an exotic island, but Hawaii is a place with warm weather, beautiful mountains, and gorgeous beaches. Also they have a rich history.
- New Orleans (Essence Fest): I’ve been to New Orleans and it was beautiful and hot in July, but I want to attend during the Essence Festival. This year’s fest just finished and seeing pictures every year makes me want to go even more. I attempted to go a couple of years ago looking for hotels in the area months in advance and everything was booked. I know I have to start a little earlier next time, because I will be going.
- Africa: I identify as African American and when my ancestors were taken from Africa during the slave trade where most of our history was lost over the years. I would love to learn some of this history in places such as Ghana. I would like to explore other countries such as Nigeria and South Africa as well.
- Australia: Who wouldn’t want to go down under in a place that is a country and a continent. Each time I see pictures I like what I see. Plus I would like to see some kangaroos and Koalas.
Sometimes when you write things down your vacation goals, it can motivate you to save money and get to at least one of these places in your lifetime. So, what is your vacation vision board?
