Upside Down

       As people we tend to hide the truth from those closest to us in important situations. Most times we hold it in until everything blows up and then we want to run our mouths. In my frustration with the U.S., it’s been confirmed that our current President Joe Biden will no longer seek re-election less than 4 months from Election Day. In my opinion this is too late to do so, but in the end, This Is America! Our elected officials who interact with Biden had more than enough time to determine if he was fit and instead, they waited and chose to embarrass him in front of the world during this critical time. I am happy, President Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. I hope she gets the support of Americans because she’s our last hope. But what this whole situation shows is, “We live in a dog-eat-dog world.”

     As humans, we go through life and there are many different directions our life goes down. One of the biggest influences on this is the people we surround ourselves with. These people can be the ones who guide us in the right direction. Or they can be the ones who are involved in our downfall. There can be a tug-of-war between both sides, but one direction always dominate the other.

     The characteristics of people who help in leading you down a good path include…

• Care for others outside of themselves.
• They are sincere. They want to see the best for you. They will tell you the truth of what you need to hear. Not just what you want to hear.
• They will be your cheerleader in the moments you need it most. This can help nurture your optimism in creating your own success.

     The characteristics of people who can lead you down a negative path include…

• Communication is lacking. The other person involved has no effective way to work well with you.
• Lack the use of positive reinforcements. This is a way to praise someone for what they do right. This helps them want to seek that same approval by doing good work.
• Not being able to accept constructive criticism. One must be held accountable for their actions and accept when they are wrong.

     In the end, the life we live is not easy to navigate, and we must keep our eyes open to everything. One should never get comfortable in any position because there is always someone that can push you out of the way. But it’s the direction you choose to take that will get you back on track and to where you need to be. In the case of President Biden, he made the final decision to leave the campaign trail. The positive is that he can now spend his last years of life stress free and with his family.
