Have you ever put a lot of work into something with little results? This can happen so many times in your life but sometimes making a small change can lead you to where you want to be. Sometimes you may feel you have to stick to the plan you set . There is a power higher than us and sometimes we are destined to make a change. Recently, it was just announced that Oprah Winfrey stepped down from Weight Watchers after revealing she used weight loss medicine. This woman is very powerful and have struggled with her weight for many years. I’m sure her decision to use medication under medical guidance wasn’t what she wanted but for her long-term health it may have been necessary.
In life, we all have different events we sometimes struggle with. You put in hard work, but don’t get to the result after following a plan and actively working on it. The job I currently have took 2 years to get. I had a plan when I graduated from graduate school and knew this was going to be my first job. After the interview, I didn’t hear back. I then received a phone call for a contractor opportunity. This came without good benefits, but I was a new grad with student loans that were soon to go into repayment. Plus I wanted to start making money. This became my path until a letter came in the mail to interview again. There were some minor hiccups in the journey, but I got the job.
So, what are some ways you can get through these tough moments when these situations arise in your life.
- Journal: Writing down your feelings can be the mental relief to help push forward. If writing is not your thing, record it through your phone through video or voice to text.
- Resources: Find the people and/or places that can help you discover other ways to meet your goals. But you have to be willing to recognize and accept it.
- Positive Thoughts: Focus on the positive as best you can. Realize that there is a reason for deviation in your plan. Run with it and continue to stay focused on the end game. Practice some self care in the process.
- Redirection: We all have many different events that we give energy to. Usually, you put more into one over the other. Give more of your attention to another area and then come back to the one you had a harder time working through.
Nothing in life comes without work. You may be sweating when you finally make it to the finish line, but you did it. In the end, remember, sometimes the plans you have, happens at the time it’s supposed to and not the time you want it to.
