Run It Back (2024)

Posted on December 30, 2024December 29, 2024 by Virtual Afro Woman

Let’s take a moment to run back the year 2024. Each of us has different stories to tell. I’m sure there were some not so great moments, but I hope that the greater moments outweighed them. These moments make up who we are and what we go through as humans. Although we sometimes wish to erase or redo certain moments. Let’s embrace them and use them to motivate us next year.

The year 2024 has been an interesting year for me in many ways. At the start of the year, I had my first minor surgery under anesthesia (getting older). I stepped outside of my comfort zone and truly began my small business journey. There was a point when I became annoyed by my career as an Occupational Therapist after 10 years. Dealing with families and some of the children made me not want to go to work many days. From this, I made the decision to work less in my career. This was done by not taking on any additional smaller jobs after closure of the facility I worked some weekends. Overall for 2024, I created 6 goals for myself and I have done 5 of them. They were not completed to perfection, but I actively worked on them all. This allows me to give myself a pat on the back. Plus, I will put a few of them back on the list for 2025.

For Virtual Afro Woman blog, there were many great book recommendations, I hope you enjoyed them as much as I did. A few of my favorites were The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride, Black Fortunes: The Story of the First Six African Americans Who Escaped Slavey and Became Millionaires by Shomari Wills, and The Girl at the Back of the Bus by Suzette D. Harrison. Also, there were our monthly challenges with my favorites being June’s to create a music playlist to relax your mind, July’s to create a month of peace, and November’s to practice gratitude each day.

And now I’m ending the year with greater spirits after getting some rest. I hope that the work I put in for 2024 sets me up for greater things in 2025. I hope the same for you all as well. So in advance, may you all have a Happy New Year! When that ball drops tomorrow to signal a new year, may you put positive energy in the air. The year 2025 will be a great year.
