Road Rules

Posted on April 11, 2025April 11, 2025 by Virtual Afro Woman

As I am sitting here, I am set to work this Friday to end the second week of April. To get to work, I drive my car. I live fairly close to work, but I leave an hour earlier for my sanity. I like to do this to sit in my car and relax before I begin my work day. But ultimately, I do this so that my traffic won’t be too much of a headache. I don’t know if it’s just me, if it’s New York City (NYC) as a whole, or if it’s everywhere, but driving is no longer fun for me and having a chauffeur would be amazing at this point

Number One for why driving is no longer fun….

People are crazy. I use this word to mean unbalanced. People are running red lights. People are turning or cutting you off with no signal. The electric scooter and bike riders are reckless. We have traffic lights and crosswalks, and some pedestrians act as if they can’t wait for the light to be in their favor. Your vision has to be all over the place. If you don’t get a headache or stressed by this, you are lucky.

Number Two for why driving is no longer fun…

The people in control of changing street signs and the directions of streets, I sometimes wonder about them. These changes often cause more traffic in my eye. Do they just sit in their office drinking coffee looking at the streets like a chess board, and decide how to take out the opponent. There’s no reason why sometimes you have to go 6 blocks to make one turn onto a street.

Number Three for why driving is no longer fun…

Traffic! It can be road blocks due to construction. The people who have insurance company monitors for speed/brake use. It may be the people distracted by their phones behind the wheel. Then there are the people who like sightseeing as they drive, going 10 miles per hour, holding up traffic.

This has been my mental release for this day. For now, I have to continue to drive myself to work. It’s still more convenient over taking public transportation. I hope all of you who gave to work today had or have a good and safe commute. Happy Friday to you all!
