Since the beginning of time women entertainers, particularly in the music industry are judged against each other more often than men. Our society then runs with it, picking a side. When it comes to artists of color, there are already few who make it to the top due to our society’s continued bias. This behavior also translates in the real world away from entertainment. I’m all for female empowerment and we should push this idea more. We don’t have to be friends with everyone we meet. But if we can learn to coexist without hurting each other. Maybe we can have more examples of greatness and sisterhood in this world.

If I like Cardi B and Nicki Minaj, why do I have to pick a side?! If I like Ice Spice and Latto, why pick a side?! I like both Beyonce and Kelly Rowland’s music. Now, if I say I like Drake, Kanye West, Jay-Z and Nas, there is never much of an uprising from the greater public.

This cycle continues to be reignited throughout different time periods. In the end, what you see is as people mature these fires are eventually diffused. They are all unique and have their own styles. Plus, they all have songs that I enjoy. In honor of this month of love and today being Valentine’s Day I want to spread my love for 90’s and early 00’s R&B by the Queens. These women been through there share of comparison, but continue to be great in spite of this. I present to you my list of songs that represent good music and plays no favorites. I hope you all enjoy this list and let us know if there is a song you might add or even remove from the great list of women entertainers.
