It is May and Mother’s Day is coming. I don’t have children, but I have a mother, grandmothers (both in heaven), sisters, aunts, cousins, friends, etc. and all of them are great women with different personalities whether they have given birth to children or not. Being a mother is not just about having children you birth but if you made an impact on anyone’s life on any level. Some people don’t have a birth mother to celebrate each year as they lost their mother at a young age due to death, don’t have a birth mother as they were raised by men for various reasons, or their mother may have removed themselves from their child’s life due to voluntary or unvoluntary circumstances among other reasons. The idea is to show that to celebrate Mother’s Day this Month, it is not possible for all, but we can aim towards honoring the mothers or women who made an impact in our life.
The definition of Mother has different meanings, and they are as follows.
- A female parent
- A women of authority
- An old or elderly women
- Maternal tenderness or affection
I was lucky to always have my mother in my life but during the younger years while she was working, I was taken care of by my grandmother during the day. As I got older sometimes, I would stay over at my aunts’ homes, also my sister who is a few years older than me would take me to the movies, and my aunt took me to my first concert; I even had female teachers over the years who helped guide me early on and I loved school because of them. In any event it’s safe to say, there were many mothers in my life who played a role in my growth into the women I am now. It was my mother who taught me to gift/celebrate these women in our lives when we can, even those without children, and this is something I probably would not have done if not for her teaching.
So, if you want to honor the mothers in your life here’s a list of some gift ideas to show your love that won’t break the bank.
This is a wonderful tribute to the maternal figures in our life.
