Mental Wealth= Mental Wellness (Part Three)

Posted on July 19, 2024July 19, 2024 by Virtual Afro Woman

In the summertime, I’m at my happiest. The days are longer with more sunlight and the weather is warmer. I can spend more time outside. Then, I can come in at night to watch some television, ending the day on a good note. I enjoy all genres of film and television, but comedy is my favorite. There is nothing like the joy of a laugh. Laughter is a great way to help in one’s mental wellness.

Studies show many benefits to laughing.

  • It improves your mood, reducing depression and anxiety.
  • Helps in relieving one’s stress by reducing blood pressure and heart rate.
  • It improves the function of your immune system. By reducing stress in your body, there is less room for many health conditions to manifest.
  • It can reduce glucose levels if laughing takes place after eating a meal.
  • There is an increase of oxygen in your body which can help you think more clearly.

Whether it takes thinking of good memories from the past or watching movie, incorporating more laughter into your life always does the trick when it comes to mental wellness.  If you need a little help in your laughing journey, here are some new and old goodies to get you started. Remember, laughter is not something to force into your life, but if you make an effort to blend it in naturally, it will forever have a place in your mental wellness. May we all continue to live, laugh, and love!
