If I Had To Choose..

Posted on January 17, 2024January 16, 2024 by Virtual Afro Woman

On Monday night, the Emmy Awards took place. There was a diverse group of people nominated in many different categories and it was beautiful to see. But, the cast reunions and sets of shows was my favorite part. Some of the shows displayed were “Martin” (My biased favorite of the night), “Ally McBeal”, “All in the Family”, and another favorite “I Love Lucy.”

There were so many great shows as I grew up in the 90’s and in generations before and after. After this my thoughts started to wander. If I had to choose only 5 shows that I loved and wished to see the cast reunite on any stage which, would they be? This is a hard question to ask but it can be done if you go the influence of the show in your life.

Since ‘Martin’ has now had two brief reunions, I’m going to exclude it from this list. It would have been on it otherwise

Not in any order but here’s my list…

Living Single A show I continue to watch anytime I get the chance. I still feel like it is underrated. The show depicted the everyday life of six young, black, hardworking, and successful individuals that were not seen before on primetime. We saw life dating, starting a business, becoming a politician, becoming an actress, getting married, and most importantly sisterhood.

All That A teen sketch comedy show on Nickelodeon that was new and fresh with great talents we still know and love today. I still remember the sketches of ‘Good Burger,’ ‘Handyman man man,’ and ‘Dear Ashley.’ When I was 7, my family and I went to the Nickelodeon studio in Florida and I got to see the set.

The Facts of Life A show that I used to watch the reruns after school. We got to see sisterhood from the teenage and then young adult perspective.

New York Undercover An underrated Dick Wolf crime show that I loved. It depicting many issues that were relevant to Black communities. It also showcased various Black artist during scenes at the fictional night club ‘Natalie’s.’

Barney I lived and breathed Barney for about 2 years of early my life. I would love to have a moment to see the original cast that included Derek, Min, Tasha, Lucy, Tina, Shawn and Kathy.

So think about, what will you choose?

Since we are excluding Martin, I wouldn’t mind seeing a cast reunion of Living Single, In Living Color, Sister,Sister, Roc, Family Matters (Which I think was done) and The Nanny.
