I Think My Bones Need Some of the Tin Man’s Oil

Posted on March 13, 2023March 8, 2023 by Virtual Afro Woman

I can officially say I am in my 30s as I will be 35 years old this year. Now I don’t know about you but as young as I still look and somedays as young as I still feel, I know my body is aging.

Do you remember being 5 years old and you accidently fall and bounce right back a few minutes after crying and getting your ‘boo boo’ kissed by you parent? *Raise your hand.

Do you remember being 17 years old in gym class and you collided with another student while participating in one of the many sports you played, and you will take a little break and then went right back into the game to play? *Raise your hand.

Do you remember just last week in those 30 years plus body, you slept wrong in the bed, woke up stiff and your back was hurting for 2 days? *Just raise your hand.

Well, these questions are to show that over time our bodies change and are not the same from one decade to the next. Our bodies are precious and the older we get the more we must take care of it.

For the last 4 years, I have been consistently doing yoga and I must say it has been a life saver in helping my body feel good as I release the tightness of my muscles as well as the stress. So many people go to the gym and engage with exercise equipment and in aerobic classes, but many do no stretch and improve on flexibility to maintain our natural postures. Just because you may be slim in the waist and have good glutes and biceps does not mean the next time you bend down to reach something, you will be able to get back up with ease. Whether you work on computers all day or are on our phones and tablets, the muscles around our necks known as the trapezius often become tight from overuse throughout each day, so what do ergonomic specialists tell you to do, to take breaks and do stretches of the neck including neck rolls. All of this is to prevent us from being hunched over so our spines maintain its full extension.

Everyone has different ways in which to take care of their body, and I chose yoga as one them. So, what’s your go to in taking care of your body and how do you feel after? Have you ever tried yoga? Share with us!

Thanks for the resources. I have never really tried yoga but maybe it will help with these body changes
