There’s nothing like the power of a conversation with another person. With our society being consumed by technology, sometimes this falls to the side. So, on this Monday, if you could speak to someone you don’t know while out in the world, try it. For myself, living in a big city can be tricky because we are always on the move. There is more focus getting to our destination than there is to look up and stop to speak with someone. This topic came to mind because in sparking a conversation this weekend with people I didn’t know, I always seem to find something in common with them.
The art of conversation with people other than those closest to you is nearing extinction and we must continue to find ways to engage, instead of choosing technology first.
- Something as small as a “good morning” when you walk past someone goes a long way.
- While you’re standing in a long line waiting for something, looking up from your phone and expressing your frustration can spark a conversation.
- Sitting next to someone on the train reading a book you want to read, “Asking how it is so far?” creates short dialogue.
You see where I’m going with this. All it takes is something small to converse about that can bring a smile to your face. It may even make your day great. It was a pleasure speaking to you all today. May you have a beautiful week ahead!
