Energy

Posted on September 20, 2024September 20, 2024 by Virtual Afro Woman

I have been navigating this world now for 30 plus years. I have been a very observant person all my life and when I see people in various emotional states, I often notice this energy. As someone who works with children with disabilities, I have come to notice less regulatory behaviors than in the past. I see more of a ‘fight’ energy amongst them. Yes, they have a disability, but one of their strengths is picking up on energy. Plus, all children know how to test adults. In the past year, I struggled a little, trying not to this increase of negative behaviors to bring stress to me. I was starting to have a feeling of disliking my career, so I took a break. This break allowed me to move away from the negative energy and back to the positive. But, while thinking about myself, I also had to think about the energy the children were surrounded by daily. At their age and with their disability, they have no control of their environment.

The idea of positive and negative energy is very important. Positive is one that has optimistic behavior and often results in something good. Negative is often pessimistic behavior that can lead to bad things. There is so much going on each day in the world. All that takes place can be represented by either one. As a child, there is less control over your life. As adults, it’s our job to protect ourselves and any children in our life. We must keep positive energy in their lives because what happens in childhood carry over into adulthood.

Positive energy can allow us to have gratitude. It allows us to be kind and to surround ourselves with similar behavior. Negative energy can cause stress, which limits the goals we have set for ourselves. When we become adults, we have more control. If surrounded by negativity growing up, you can have the most positive adulthood. You can grow up surrounded by positive and have negativity as an adult. There is no control as a child, but as an adult the choice is yours. We can work to surround ourselves with more positive people, we can educate ourselves with positive literature, we can even listen to positive/calming music. There are many ways in which you can bring positive energy into your life. The question now, will you work on doing this or will you allow the negative energy to control you?
