Don’t Get Tired

Posted on May 23, 2025May 23, 2025 by Virtual Afro Woman

When working towards something important to you, do you have the same level of energy from start to finish? Think of a situation where this may or may not have happened. Did you face any obstacles along the way that challenged your ability to see it through to the end? Did you face any losses along the way? On Wednesday, the New York Knicks played game 1 of the eastern conference finals. They lost at the last minute. But, kudos to them for not losing too badly. We did see a team that got tired at the end. They were almost at the finish line with a 14-point lead, and with the snap of a finger, it vanished. They loss by 3 points in overtime. As a New Yorker rooting for the Knicks, this was disappointing. But the message in this situation is, don’t get tired.

When I say this, I mean don’t let the challenges that happen along the way force you to give up. Anything negative that happens is just a minor setback. Every situation or event has its purpose and this is something to think about in those moments of frustration. For the moments when you may want to give up, reach out to someone who you can rely on. They can help get you back on track by being your accountability partner. In the moments when negative thoughts flood your brain, recite or write down positive affirmations. These feelings and actions may be repeated for days, months, or even years until you meet your goals, but don’t get tired.

You should applaud yourself for starting on this path with dignity and pride. The final result may not always happen in the way you want, but it can be in the way you need. It’s something you should be proud of. The Knicks have not made it this far into the season in 25 years, so they should be proud. As a team, they have each other to rely on in working together to meet their goal. They almost won the game, but nothing in this loss is something to be embarrassed about. I believe they can get the job done. And, I believe that in whatever you or I have going on, we can get to the finish line as well. Just remember, don’t get tired, the journey is just starting.
