Control

Posted on July 8, 2024July 7, 2024 by Virtual Afro Woman

Have you ever gone through a situation that seems like it’s your worst nightmare? You’re exhausted and maybe struggling. You just want it to end. When it ends, you end up coming out on the brighter side. These events are not ones we plan or want to happen. But have you ever thought that maybe they are supposed to happen. Maybe they happen to get you to where you need to be. These types of events show us that we are not in control of everything and sometimes the purpose is beyond us. The lessons learned make for greater outcomes.

If you are someone whose struggling right now and find yourself unconsciously becoming jealous of another person who seems to have success, stop that! Are you looking at all that has happened and found the parts of this situation on the bright side. This is where you have control. Control to see these positive moments. To use them as the momentum needed to get to the other side of the struggle. Everything happens for some reason we may not see. If you get to the other side a positive can await you.

Let’s try to be more conscious of our thoughts when going through these struggles. It’s so easy to get sad and maybe even depressed. Let’s try to see the brighter side. For example…

  • You may not be able to pay your home loan and are at risk of losing it all. There should be better ways to protect homeowners, but the bright side is having a life to continue to live and a healthy family that can build itself up again to once again own a home.
  • The Doctor may have told you have Type II Diabetes. The bright side is you can work through adjusting your diet to help in slowing it’s course or reversing this diagnosis.
  • The college just sent a letter telling you are on academic probation at school. The bright side is you get time to ask for help and work on improving your study skills to get back on track.
  • You may be trying to get to the graduation of the first person in your family to graduate from college. Your flight gets cancelled and then your new flight gets delayed and you miss the ceremony. The bright side is we live in a time of recordings and live video calls. You get to see the graduation and if generations of family continue to thrive there will be another college graduation to attend.

These examples may or may not be something you can relate to, but the idea of what you can and cannot control is. Choose the bright side and let it guide you to a positive end.
