Centered

Posted on January 6, 2025January 5, 2025 by Virtual Afro Woman

When something is considered centered, it represents a balance. This can be a balance between the space around it. Or it can be a balance in terms of management of one’s mental and emotional being. In the winter months, there are many different feelings one can have due to the changes in weather. It’s colder during this time. You spend more time indoors, which can be depressing for some. You may spend more time alone away from others. Being centered does not come naturally for everyone, but actively working on it is necessary. This life we have is precious and limited, so making sure we take care of ourselves is important.

It’s 2025, and being a little selfish goes aa long way. There are so many responsibilities and people to take care of, but without your sanity it’s impossible. What are some ways to work on becoming more centered.

  • Guided Meditation: with a calming voice and background noise, allow yourself to visualize a scene away from the norm.
  • Puzzles: the more pieces the more focus to finishing.
  • Reading a book: A book that allows you reflect or one to help you escape.
  • Sticky Notes to Self: writing positive messages to yourself and posting it in places you frequent the most.
  • Exercise: whether going for a walk , doing light yoga/stretches, or lifting weights
  • Coloring: just because you’re an adult does not mean you can’t enjoy this activity to take your mind away from the stress.
  • Music: any genre that speaks to you and allow you to sing along or just close your eyes and listen to the melody.
  • Pets: whether the traditional cat or dog or something as small as fish.
  • Tap into Senses: close your eyes, what do you smell (light a candle if you need) or what do you hear. Get a fidget (stress ball, etc.) squeeze it. Eat a snack hits the taste bud you crave at the moment (in moderation of course), and put on a visual meditation video and just take in the image.

These tasks are just a few things, but in whatever you choose, make sure you tap into your mind and body and make sure what you engage in nurtures it in the best way possible.
