Black Music Month- Rihanna Edition 00’s vs. 10’s

Posted on June 14, 2024June 13, 2024 by Virtual Afro Woman

Rihanna is a woman of many ventures. She just released Fenty Hair this week after previously starting Fenty, Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, and Savage X Fenty. But she started her career off as a singer. With 8 albums released over an 11-year period, she is worth celebrating today in this month that is also Caribbean American Heritage Month. With 4 albums released in the 2000’s and another 4 in the 2010’s, the battle is now on.

In the first set, you have the albums, “Music of the Sun,” “A Girl like Me,” “Good Girl Gone Bad,” and “Rated R.” As a collective, the songs that have come from these albums include, “Pon de Replay,” “If It’s Loving that You Want,” “SOS,” “Unfaithful,” “Umbrella,” “Don’t Stop the Music,” “Rude Boy,” and “Hard.”

For the 2010’s, the albums included, “Loud, “Talk that Talk,” “Unapologetic,” and “Anti.” To represent these albums you had songs such as “What’s My Name,” “S&M,” “Where Have You Been,” “We Found Love,” “Diamonds,” “Pour It Up,” “Work,” and “Needed Me.”

With such great albums and songs to choose from, what’s your favorite decade of Rihanna? Hopefully soon we will get an album to start another decade of her music.
