Posted on June 28, 2024June 23, 2024 by Virtual Afro Woman

A hip hop legend who puts out songs with a message is Nasir Jones. To the public he is known as Nas. For those who are true fans of this genre of music, he is often spoken about, but to the public his name is not mentioned enough. His records of speaks of the struggles of many growing up in New York City. But they also just relate to many Black youth’s story here in America. He continue to make music today, but I would like to highlight his first two decades of the 1990’s and 2000’s.

In the 90’s, Nas’s albums included “Illmatic,” “It Was Written,” “I Am…,” and “Nastradamus.” The hits that came from these albums includes “The World is Yours,” “NY State of Mind,” “If I Ruled the World,” “Hate Me Now,” and “You Owe Me.”

In the 00’s, he had five albums, “Stillmatic,” “God’s Son,” “Street’s Disciple,” “Hip Hop is Dead,” and “Untitled.”. This collection of hits includes “One Mic,” “Got Ur Self A Gun,” “Made You Look,” “I Can,” “Bridging the Gap,” “Can’t Forget About You,” “Just A Moment,” and “Hero”.

So, take a listen to both decades. Which would you choose as your favorite Nas decade?
