The Jackson family place in history will forever be none for generations to come. One of its members is the great Janet Jackson. As the youngest of the bunch, she has created music for four decades, but for today I will focus on two of them. The mid 1980’s was when her star power came to light, and in the 1990’s was when we got a glimpse of her sex appeal to the public. Today let’s battle her two defining albums from both decades.
In the 80’s, she had two early albums with “Janet Jackson” in 1982 and “Dream Street” in 1984 that should be recognized. But her albums “Control” in 1986 and “Rhythm Nation 1814” in 1989 defined her place in the Jackson legacy. The songs that came from them included “Control,” “Nasty,” “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “Rhythm Nation,” “Miss U Much,” and “Escapade.”
In the 90’s, she released “Janet” and “The Velvet Rope.” Two albums that were completely different in sound but both very good. The songs that came from them included “That’s The Way Love Goes,” “Any Time, Any Place,” “Because of Love,” “I Get Lonely,” and “Together Again.”
So, in choosing one of the two decades, which is your favorite? If you didn’t already know, she is currently on tour now, so grab your tickets for when she comes to your city.
