Have you ever thought about what you would do if you were given one month off from work? One month to do whatever you wanted and still get paid. For myself, the first thing I would do is wake up a little bit later each day because I’m not an early morning riser. Having the opportunity to engage in hobbies, go on vacation, and make appointments for any time of day can all go on the list. The shocking thing about this question is that you ask some people and they can’t answer this. They feel as if they will get bored with the increased time off. We as people are programmed to work and be busy day to day. It can be hard to just be still.
The power of being still is an art. One that requires mindfulness. One that has the potential to be defined as boredom. We must be intentional about how we do this. Having an extended time off allows for a reset for our mind, body, and soul. As we end this month and go into a new one, the weather will be warmer. This gives us room to increase options for occupying our time. Whether going outdoors to sit in the park or even sitting in your backyard, you get a chance to be still. Whether going for a walk or a run to clear your mind, you get a chance to relax your mind. If you have the opportunity to take some days off this summer, do it. Let’s focus in on our stillness by setting times to just relax and reset before the fall season comes in.
