Daddy’s Little Baby

Posted on June 12, 2023June 11, 2023 by Virtual Afro Woman

As a kid, little boys almost always have their mother spoiling them and little girls have their father wrapped around their fingers, but of course the love from both parents is unmatched and in the end both boys and girls deserve love from their Father’s.

One of the definitions of “Father” is a man who gives care and protection to someone or something. There are many fathers out there who are great with their children and deserve to be celebrated. Even when it comes to single parent households most are with women of course but there are ~20% of single father households and this is to be applauded.

In Black families, over the years the stereotype is that most Black children have absent fathers, and studies do show that more Black families than other racial groups do not have a father in the home, but this does not represent all and that’s what should be looked at. There is a history of reasons why this all began happening and this included separation during slavery, then lynching of men, mass incarceration that affected our communities more, discrimination in the workplace, drug use especially during the crack epidemic, early mortality, and just all the years of trauma passed down for generations within some families.

So, for this Father’s day, if there is a man or group of men in your life who can be identified as one of the good dads, honor them. Below are some affordable gift options compliments of Macy’s and Amazon.com that may help you celebrate them.
