With May being the month of Mother’s Day, I decided to pick this semi-memoir of Afeni Shakur. As the mother of a well known person being Tupac Shakur, this book was in the format of a conversation between her and the actress Jasmine Guy who authored the book. Over the years, we have briefly heard her story from Tupac’s perspective, but this work allows you to get a glimpse of her life from her own mouth. At this point in time, both Afeni and Tupac are no longer alive, but it’s the history and legacy of a person that is important and should live on. Happy Reading!
